Located just 20 minutes from beautiful Broome in Western Australia, the 12 Mile Bird Park is not to be missed.

From humble beginnings as a bare five acre block in 2008, the Park now hosts over 600 birds, with more than 80 different species spread across almost 100 aviaries, and has been open to the public since 2013. Our feathered friends range from tiny, beautifully coloured Gouldian finches; to majestic blue and gold macaws; to pheasants, ducks, kookaburras and owls; and an array of cockatoos, including black, gang gang, and sulphur-crested – just to name a few. Many have been hand-reared and are more than happy to entertain you with their cheeky antics! In addition, a number of our birds are rescues, including our elegant black swans; as they can not be released into the wild due to illness or injury, we endeavour to give them a safe and happy home as an alternative.

A favourite of visitors and locals alike, 12 Mile Bird Park is the perfect place to spend a few hours. Trails weave their way between the aviaries, and offer shaded alcoves with timber seating to spend a little extra time or have some lunch with your favourites. Bring a picnic, or purchase an ice cream from the shop, to enjoy on the shaded lawn area, immersed in the sounds of our avian friends. A mobility scooter is available at no charge if required; just give us a call to let us know in advance.

Planned future developments include a barramundi lake complete with waterfall; walk-through aviaries; and a shop with refreshments and keepsakes available for purchase. Continuing breeding programs also offer a variety of birds for sale – just contact us for more information or to be put on a waitlist to take home your very own feathered friend!
